Adeboye’s RCCG Members, Construction Workers Escape Death As Building Collapses on Church in Lagos

Lagos state - Tragedy was averted in Lagos state on Monday, June 16, when a two-storey building under construction suddenly collapsed at Number 3 Craig Street, off Apata Road, Shomolu area of Lagos state but all individuals were reported safe.

RCCG members, construction workers escape death

The incident, which, according to an eyewitness, happened at about 1 pm. Fortunately, there was no life lost, and no injuries were recorded, as some church worshippers and construction workers reportedly escaped the scene unscathed.

Vanguard reported that the pillars of the collapsed building fell on Pastor Enoch Adeboye's led Redeemed Christian Church of Christ (RCCG), Liberty Parish, which was partially affected, as worshippers in the church also escaped unscathed.

LASEMA confirms incident

In a swift response, the permanent secretary of Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident and explained that the building collapsed during the decking process.

According to Oke-Osanyintolu, preliminary investigations conducted revealed that there was no victim trapped under the collapsed building.

⁠"Meanwhile, the construction yard has been cordoned off immediately," LASEMA boss stated.

Taraba: Many injured as church collapses

Similarly, Legit.ng earlier reported that worshippers cheated death on Sunday, June 15 as a church building collapsed during service in Taraba state.

Many worshippers sustained injuries and others got fractures when the church caved in following heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

No death was recorded in the incident that happened in the UMCN church, which is located behind the Police Divisional office, in Mutum-Biyu town, the headquarters of Gassol LGA of the state.

Pastor killed as church collapses in Benue

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a Dunamis church located at the Mission Ward North Bank in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, collapsed.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, October 3, left a pastor dead as the building caved in.

According to sources, four individuals, including the pastor, were observing prayers at the church building before the incident happened.

2 dead as church collapses in Osun

Meanwhile, a similar incident occurred in Osun state where two people were killed.

Two women reportedly died while four others were injured as a church building collapsed in Ikirun, the headquarters of Ifelodun local government area of Osun state.

The NSCDC spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the development and shared further details on the sad incident.

Building with collapses in Lagos

In another similar development by Legit.ng, a school-turned-residential building in the Ketu area of Lagos state partially collapsed.

The building has over 500 rooms with hundreds of residents and is known as Agboye Estate on Oduntan Street, Ketu.

Legit.ng gathered that the building first caved in on Saturday afternoon following hours of rainfall that greeted most parts of Lagos.
